Residents and campaigners from ‘Save Our Ponds Forum 71’ met on Hampstead Heath, London, this Saturday the 22nd of August 2020, to protest against the new mandatory £4.50 charges that where brought in during the Covid-19 lockdown. Many argue the new mandatory charges will price out many low earners and the communities most vulnerable people, that rely on the ponds for mental and physical well being. They ask the City of London to reconsider their decision, with Labour leader and Hampstead’s local MP Sir Kier Starmer also writing to the City of London council earlier in the week.
